Dreambert and Bedsmith, two Pi’illo species, wake up one morning with no memory of who they are, where they are, or how they got there. They find themselves in an unfamiliar house in a strange city, feeling lost and confused. Just as panic sets in, a strange man named Wonky appears, claiming to be their father. He assumes they must have passed out while watching television the night before, but before he can explain any further, the situation gets even stranger. A creature named Starlow, a Star Sprite species, arrives, claiming to be their friend. He says they had plans to go out, but Dreambert and Bedsmith have no memory of him or any such plans. They reluctantly follow Starlow out, unsure of what surrounds them. They wander around the city, appearing as if they don’t recognize their surroundings or Starlow. Despite his confusion, Starlow continues to communicate with them as if they had been friends for a long time. As he separates them, Starlow patiently explains their supposed friendship and their names in an attempt to calm them down. However, Dreambert and Bedsmith are still confused and unable to understand their past or their relationship with Starlow. As the day progresses, Starlow becomes increasingly concerned and at first thinks they are just pretending to forget. But as their strange behavior continues, he begins to worry that something is wrong with their memories. By the end of the day, Starlow’s uncertainty deepens, and he wonders if there is something else behind their forgetfulness. Dreambert and Bedsmith are sent back to the house where they first woke up, and Wonky, still claiming to be their father, offers them a bed that looks unfamiliar to them. Too tired and confused to protest, they settle in for the night. As they fall asleep, their minds are filled with questions about their identities, their pasts, and the reason for their sudden amnesia. The mystery of their lost memories remains unanswered as they drift into a restless sleep, uncertain about the future.
